Subaru Hawaii announced that its Share the Love sales event has raised $2,300 for the Hawaii Island Humane Society. A check presentation was held last week at Kona Subaru.
The dealership donated $250 for every new vehicle sold by Subaru Hawaii dealers from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31 to Share the Love. The event raised a total of $25,300 for a group of great causes. In addition to the nonprofit Big Island animal welfare agency, four other nonprofits shared the proceeds. They are the Hawaii Wildlife Fund, SPCA Maui, Hawaii Literacy and Oahu SPCA.
The public also had an opportunity to vote for their favorite participating nonprofit organization on Subaru Hawaii’s Facebook page. At the end of the sales event period on Dec. 31, Hawaii Wildlife Fund received 45 percent of all votes and earned an additional $5,000. In total, Subaru Hawaii will be donating $11,700 to the Hawaii Wildlife Fund.
“We are delighted to give back to the community by supporting our local nonprofit partners,” said Glenn Inouye, senior vice president of Servco, representing the Subaru Hawaii Dealers. “The Facebook contest, in particular, was very well received by the public. It was a very close and exciting race right up to the very end.
“We were so happy to be one of Subaru Hawaii’s designated nonprofit beneficiaries and we are always thankful for opportunities that help raise awareness of our organization,” said HIHS Executive Director Donna Whitaker. “This donation from Subaru’s Share the Love campaign will go a long way in helping us help the animals of Hawaii Island.”
