Richard Harry Pedro Benevides, 67, of Glenwood died Feb. 6 at Kaiser-Moanalua on Oahu. Born in Hilo, he was a retired longshoreman at Hilo Harbor for HT&T, a commercial fisherman, a High Priest for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Keaau Ward), a veteran of the U.S. Navy during Vietnam, foster parent of the year in 1987 and parent of the year for special needs children in 2003.
