If Friday’s semifinal at the Stanley Costales memorial baseball tournament was a preview of things to come, then Big Island Interscholastic Federation fans could be in for quite a treat come playoff time.
Senior Keanu Dudoit-Isa’s bases-loaded single with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning capped a four-run rally as Kamehameha beat Konawaena 9-8 to reach the championship game at Wong Stadium.
The Warriors, who fell a game short of reaching the Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division II tournament last season, will play either Campbell or host Hilo at 4 p.m. in the title game. The Campbell-Hilo semifinal ended after the Tribune-Herald’s deadline.
The defending BIIF Division II champion Wildcats, who will face the Cambell-Hilo loser at 2 p.m. today for third, were hurt by four bases on balls — one was intentional — in the seventh.
Seniors Gideon Kalili and Nainoa Hart walked against Domonic Morris to open the inning, and after a Bronson Pulgados single with one out, sophomore Jordan Hirae walked to bring in a run. Junior Kupono Decker tied the game with a two-run single down the left-field line.
Konawaena senior Makana Canda finished 2 for 4, including a three-run double as the Wildcats scored four times in the second inning to go ahead 6-2 against Kamehameha starter Chay Toson. Junior Jarett Kitaoka hit a two-run double in the first.
Sophomore Makoa Rosario hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the second as the Warriors pulled within a run. Pulgados, a junior, was 2 for 4 and Dudoit-Isa was 2 for 5.
The Wildcats tacked on two more runs in the seventh courtesy of sophomore Evyn Yamaguchi’s pinch-hit single and freshman Koa Basque’s sacrifice fly, but Hirae relieved Pulgados and struck out the only batter he faced with two runners aboard to pick up the victory.
Morris took the loss. In 21/3 innings, the junior allowed four runs on two hits and five walks with five strikeouts. Sophomore starter Jordan Miyahira-Young worked the first four innings.
With the exception of four walks, Pulgados pitched well over 52/3 innings, allowing two runs and four hits with a strikeout.

Waiakea 4, Pac-Five 0: Sophomore Kodi Medeiros tossed a one-hitter and struck out nine with four walks as the defending BIIF Division I champions advanced to the fifth-place game.
A day after he threw six shutout innings in a no-decision, senior Quintin Torres-Costa was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Senior Davy Camacho hit a two-run single in the first inning for the Warriors, who will play Damien at 11:30 a.m. today.
Losing pitcher Christopher Andreyka worked four innings for the Wolfpack, last season’s runner-up at the Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division II tournament. The Interscholastic League of Honolulu member will play Radford today at 9 a.m. today in the seventh-place game.

Damien 8, Radford 3: Sophomore Tristan Florentin went 3-for-3 with a run batted in and sophomore Leeland Lauti drove in two runs to lead the Monarchs of the ILH.
Senior Syler Tomisato worked five innings and struck out four to pick up the victory. Seniors Troy Vicari and Alan Mohika each had two hits.
Junior Kea Owens took the took loss for the Rams of the Oahu Interscholastic Association. Austin Jackson, Jesus Tenorio, Jacob Gonzalez and Keenan Mamuad-Rin each had two hits.

Hilo 3, Pac-Five 2: Senior Randall Iha singled and scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning on senior Pat Tsue’s groundout for the Vikings.
Junior Kian Kurokawa pitched six innings to get the victory, yielding seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
Sophomore Jordan Tagawa struck out a batter and worked around a walk in a scoreless seventh to get the save.
Junior Devyn Uyeki took the loss in relief for the Wolfpack.
