The Hawaii Island HIV/AIDS Foundation is hosting the Big Islands first ever AIDS Walk on April 21.
The event will be a 2-mile walk around Liliuokalani Park. There will be food and awards for participants including best costume and best team banner.
Walk registration opens at 8 a.m. and the walk starts at 9 a.m. All funds raised will go directly to provide services for nearly 300 men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS on the Island of Hawaii. Funds will also go to support education, community outreach and free anonymous 20-minute HIV testing.
David Fero, Community Activist says, “We are thrilled to have an AIDS Walk on the Big Island. Funds raised from this walk will play a vital role in our efforts to reduce HIV infections on the Big Island and to ensure our community members living with HIV/AIDS get the care they need.

The Hawaii Island HIV/AIDS Foundation, a nonprofit corporation, was established through a merger of the Big Island AIDS Project and the West Hawaii AIDS Foundation on September 15, 2003.
