A contemporary Hawaiian language hula drama will be presented by the high school students of Ke Kula O Nawahi‘okalaniopu‘u from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 20, at William Charles Lunalilo Center at the Kamehameha School Campus in Keaau. I Ka Hula is a historical journey through the ancient and modern nuances of the art of hula.
The audience will journey through life lessons revealed by timeless stories of kupuna as they pertain to the younger generation’s modern existence. Through dramatic representation of Hawaiian song, chant and hula, the performers will offer their audience “the experience of learning from our past and present, with practical implications for cultural sustainability.”
Tickets are $5 in advance, $8 at the door.
