Residents in East and West Hawaii are invited to join in an interisland dialogue on the state of human rights in the world at noontime Thursday via the University of Hawaii Interactive Television System at two locations — the UHH Media Services Room 344 and UH Center at West Hawaii Building 4, Room 3.

The first Human Rights/Sustainability Campus Community Dialogue will focus on recent advancements regarding human rights at global sessions including the first-ever United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights.
“There will also be discussion about ‘Obama’s Second Term: Bringing Human Rights Home and Realizing Rights at the United Nations,’ covering opportunities and obstacles,” Cooper said.
“There will also be discussions on sovereignty covering the important work in area of food sovereignty by campaigns regarding the right to food and health. An important element will be climate change featuring a short film regarding movements for justice in the Asia Pacific region.”
The dialogue will feature guest speakers and also a short documentary focusing on climate justice.
Hawaii residents have returned from meetings in New York and Geneva at the United Nations to share their experiences. The monthly dialogue is sponsored by the Hawaii Institute for Human Rights and the United Nations Association USA Hawaii. Visit www.human-rights-hawaii.org.
