Who better than a member of the UH-Hilo baseball Vulcans to offer a different perspective on a pandemic.

UH-Hilo’s soccer teams end the shortest of seasons this weekend on Oahu, but this is just the beginning for Michael Scott.

It’s a sure bet that whenever there’s a hint of dry weather in Hilo, a Vulcans softball scrimmage is sure to follow.

The names Danielle Cervantes and Briana Wheeler were ones that UH-Hilo softball coach Callen Perreira preferred to only whisper the past few years, because they hadn’t arrived yet. They were blue chip Division II pitching recruits that Perreira landed, both big catches and prospects who offered the kind of ace-like potential that a program can build around.

The important discussions are still to come and the approach is sure to be cautious, but the door remains open for BIIF sports to return this school year.
