Born in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired elderly affairs program planner for the counties of Kauai and Hawaii, former manager and co-owner of Prince Kuhio One Hour Photo in Hilo, co-founder, first president and advisor of Sariling Gawa Youth Council and former officer and member of several Filipino and professional organizations in Hawaii. Eufemia S. Cruz, 92, of Pahala died June 13 in Pahala. Born in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she retired operating her Certified Nurse Aide Care Home and baked Filipino pastries commercially with her late husband, Felix Cruz, and was the last-living Filipino Sakada in Pahala, sailed on the SS Marine Falcon from Port Salomague, Philippines, to Hawaii in 1946 and was awarded and recognized by the Hawaii State Legislature and the Hawaii County Council on Dec. 20, 2015.
